50 Shades of Pink

A fun pink winter evening! This blog is dedicated to one of my prettiest and (unlike me) one of the most fashion-savvy friend of mine, Heeral. The only one thing that is common between her and me, is the love for bold and solid colours be it clothes, makeup or our lifestyle :D

She carried out the whole array of pink hues in one look with quite a punch. Hence, I kept on clicking her this day. I also added my recently bought magenta ballerinas to the pictures.

Of mirrors and beads

My two favourite pieces of family heirloom are my mom's ivory bead string and her Gujarati handbag with mirror-work. The mirror work handbag which is at least 30 years old still has that rare characteristic of appealing new every time I carry it. The ivory necklace is from the era way before it got banned.

I sport them separately at times but the best way to carry them is to combine them together. They look best over a plain black round neck puffed sleeve top teamed with beige cigarette pants. For a cocktail party, I picked out a plain red satin dress with black pumps, pulled back hair, red lips, smoky eyes and my mother's bag and the ivory neckpiece. The look itself spoke of clean and understated vintage style.

The beauty of heirlooms is that one doesn't need to go too far scouting for the perfect piece, when all one has to do is open the old family chest-board to find intriguing items frozen in time. These in turn can be combined with subtlety for maximum effect and for their sentimental value which adds to the elegance and delight of the wearer. Old is gold, isn't just an obsolete saying!

An Outfit Post By A Misfit!

I am too "specsy" for my pants
Bad taste in fashion and a not-so-fit frame, my greatest saviour is a black tee and these dark coral pants. Comfortable, unlike highly skin-clinging jeans, these pants were an impulse buy to save me from the sweltering Delhi heat. But more than the comfort factor, they became a head-turner for all I can reckon. Combined with neutral coloured casual t-shirts and a printed flowery scarf, I am ready to take a stroll in the by-lanes of the Village. Oh yes, Delhi too has its own "Village" now!

Complying with another fad, I love the idea of carrying smaller bags, more importantly because they are easier on the shoulder. This trend in reality hit the market several seasons ago bringing back the essence of the original Chanel quilted-and-chain handbag. Teaming up with the whole "I am too comfortable in my pants" look, the blessed green and beige sling quilted purse ups the whole look for me.

Trial Room Fashion

What happens when I step into a Trial Room

Trial Rooms have in recent years been in the news for all the wrong reasons. But these infamous little cubes of voyeuristic fantasies serve another great purpose to humanity and to people like me.

I am not at all a fashion-savvy girl like my contemporaries or my own siblings. But there are a few things about shopping for clothes that make me go insane. Retail therapy is damn underrated and overpriced! I agree. When feeling low, girls tend to go overboard with clothes and shoe shopping and eventually end up with hefty bills. Now that makes me wonder is comfort food any better than shelling out outrageous amount of money on clothes? So I with my meagre salary as a creative professional can't always afford designer outfits or for that matter fancy branded dresses. Sadly without my slim frame, I do not feel like buying anything anymore. So I make me-self happy with what I call my Trial Room Fashion Binge. And trust me it always soars my mood.

Now I know not just females but a lot of guys doing the same. We don't enter a store with the intention of buying everything but yes we go there with the intention of trying everything (time is an indefinite entity then). And yes we click our pictures and yes we are cheap but yes the feel of wearing something new is fabulous.

So my advice to all people out there, don't buy go try. And please click more pictures, I do too!
